IB Singapore offers all the established programs in the system, which includes:
· Primary years program, which accommodates kids ranging from the age of three to ten
· Middle years program for kids between eleven years and sixteen years
· Diploma program for teens between sixteen and nineteen years
The IB Singapore programs encourage a holistic education based on a philosophical framework and rigorous framework, the latter being meant for serious educational assessment. IB teaches the students a diverse culture, encouraging them to have an international outlook of life. In addition, all the programs encourage creativity, action and service, commonly known as CAS.
The diploma students take two years to complete the course, which includes six subjects, among others including:
· A humanity or a social science
· An experimental science
· Mathematics or computer science
· An art subject
The students take a course on Theory of Knowledge, which incorporates philosophy, religion and logical reasoning. They also undertake an intensive research, after which they write an essay of four thousand words. For the service in CAS program, the students indulge in community service projects.
All IB students take two international languages, one being the national language and the other one of the international languages, for instance French, Spanish, Turkish or Russian, among others. They study these languages and have an assessment on their literature, thereby improving their international perspective.
The IB Singapore encourages students to have a real life outlook, beyond the traditional subjects. They should learn the subjects meaningfully, trying to have in-depth inquiries about real life issues affecting them and the world at large.
